I’m still here

First, I want to apologize to all my readers for leaving you in the dark. It is true I have not posted anything on this site for over a year. If you are reading this now, I am amazed that you kept your access to my blog open.
So, where have I been? Well, after my last set of posts about walking the coast of Mississippi, two friends, my wife, and I went to Spain to hike the last 200 km of the Camino de Santiago. This was a life-changing pilgrimage from which I think all persons, of any religion or level of spirituality, can gain a deeper understanding of themselves. As I hiked along the path, I couldn’t help but contemplate why, for the last eleven hundred years, people have traveled in the same direction, looking for answers to probably the same questions. Some might call them (us) fanatics, but in some sense, all people are curious about where humanity has been and where it is going. Walking the Camino provides a chance to look for answers to these queries within one’s self. I must report that I failed to find “the meaning of life,” in the two weeks I spent on the trail, but I am not discouraged.
Afterward, I embarked on an ambitious writing project that sucked up all of my creative energy and much of my free time. More on this later.
Finally, late last year, a health issue in my extended family demanded my attention, and then the virus hit, upended my life and yours, I presume, as well. Now that I am settling into the “new normal,” I feel like reconnecting with my blog and you, my readers. I usually like to write uplifting and funny, light-hearted stories about travel and adventure, and I hope you will come along for the ride with me.
